WHAT DID THE SAINTS SAY ABOUT PURGATORY?
The early martyrs, St. Felicity & St. Perpetua, in 203 AD, helped us concretely understand the doctrine of purgatory thru the vision given to St. Perpetua. “In visions she learned the manner of their martyrdom and caught glimpses of what awaits souls in the life after death. Among these was a vision of Purgatory where she saw her little, 7 year old, brother Dinocratus suffering painfully; thus she prayed for him day and night. On the day the Christians were put in stocks, she had another vision and saw Dinocratus freed.” The Saints and Our Children, by Mary Reed Newland, P.J. & Sons, New York.
